How to Choose a Dumpster Size for Your Project
Describe the debris, compare EK’s sizes and check weight and placement before choosing a container.

A dumpster size is a starting point, not the whole rental decision. The amount of material, its weight, where the container will go and how long the work will take all matter. EK’s catalog includes 5-, 10-, 12-, 15-, 20- and 30-yard options.
Start with what you are removing
Make a short list before requesting a quote: household items, remodeling debris, construction materials or the contents of a particular room or building. Tell EK about large items and heavy materials. A garage full of mixed belongings and a pile of heavy renovation debris can need different advice even when they look similar in volume.

Estimate the scope in practical terms
You do not need an exact measurement to begin the conversation. Describe the rooms being cleared, the work being done and whether everything is already in one place. Photos can help EK understand the project. If the amount is uncertain, choose “Help me choose” in the quote form.
Compare volume and included weight separately
Each size has a base rate, included rental days and a weight allowance in the pricing catalog. A larger container does not mean any material can be loaded without limits. Confirm heavy debris and restricted materials with EK before booking. Do not rely on invented pickup-truck equivalents or assumptions about technical capacity.
Check delivery and placement
Provide the actual project address and explain access: the driveway, gates, overhead restrictions and the area where you want the dumpster placed. Ask EK what space the truck and container need for your specific delivery. If you plan to use a street or other public area, check the requirements for that property.
Plan the rental duration
Think about when the material will be ready and when you expect to finish. The current website calculator uses a seven-day base rental and an eligible ten-day upgrade. The final rental terms need confirmation. If plans change, contact EK before keeping the container longer.
Would a cleanout fit better?
A self-loaded dumpster is useful when you want to do the loading. A full-service cleanout is the right inquiry when you want EK to load and remove unwanted items. Do not choose a dumpster simply because you need something gone; choose the service that matches who will do the work.
Ask EK to help you choose
Use the dumpster size guide, compare the shared pricing catalog, then send a help-me-choose request. Include your town, preferred date and a description of the material. EK confirms size, availability and final pricing.
